Somatics in Action
A Mindful and Physical Conditioning Tool for Movers
Written by Lauren W. Kearns
ABOUT SOMATICS IN ACTION
Somatics in Action is a Pilates and Yoga based movement system that helps dancers and movers achieve optimum strength, alignment, and body-mind engagement.

Somatics in Action is also a philosophy based on the belief that contemplation and action can co-exist in a moving body. When people approach movement from a place of physical exertion, recuperation, and reflection, they develop a deeper understanding of themselves as movers and take greater ownership of their kinesthetic development. The philosophy is based on the following facets:
  • Strength
  • Alignment
  • Body-Mind Engagement
  • Contemplation
  • Action
